YORKTOWN MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH ESTABLISHED. 1881
CHRISTOPHER L. WILLIAMS SR. PASTOR.

There are a couple of conflicting stories regarding the history of Yorktown Missionary Baptist Church. The following is one of the least mentioned. When the English came and found blacks living here, they claimed everything for themselves, including the people. This established was the beginning of the York's settlement. Without going into too much detail, Mr. York married a black woman and established Yorkville. Once he was done depleting the land and the people, he moved on. Yorkville became Yorktown. This is how Yorktown Baptist Church got it's name.
